Oud M
Traditional 7 string Oud (Arabic lute) with slanted cutaway, European flamed maple, Adirondack red spruce and Ebony.
The oud is effectively, the predecessor of the guitar instrument, and also of all the quartet instruments.
For a guitar maker, it is good practice to connect with the origins of your profession from time to time, and this century-old oud is the instrument that directly led me to create the bowl-back steel string guitar Oudtar (shown below) in 2011.

Sycomore alias acero europeo ed ebano sono usati in tandem per questo strumento.
Il manico è costituito da un'anima in abete Sitka, stratificata con ebano e Sycomore.
La particolare scatola di spine dell'Oud (a destra) è stata laminata da ebano/sicomoro per evitare qualsiasi spaccatura a volte associata a spine di legno che subiscono cambiamenti dimensionali da diversi livelli di umidità relativa.

Assistendo al concerto, era difficile da credere, quanto grande suonasse l'oud in questa stanza.
